How Many Poker Chips Do I Need? A Quick Set-Sizing Guide
Ordering custom poker chips means picking a set size up front, and it’s easy to either underbuy (not enough for the table) or overbuy (paying for chips that sit in a drawer). Here’s a rough guide.
For a home game (2-8 players)
A 15 or 20 chip set covers a casual weekly game where you’re not tracking exact chip denominations closely — more of a “everyone gets a small stack and buys back in” setup.
For a real tournament structure (8-15 players)
100 chips gives you enough volume to split into proper denominations (different colors for different values) and still have enough per player for a multi-level blind structure without running out mid-hand.
For weddings, corporate events, or large parties
200 chips (or up to 1,000 on our bulk listing) works when chips are being used as favors or swag rather than gameplay — one or two per guest rather than a shared table stack.
The material doesn’t change with size
Every chip, regardless of set size, is the same genuine 11.5g clay composite chip with a metal insert, UV-printed double-sided — the only thing that changes is quantity.
Compare set sizes at the Custom Poker Chips listing or the bulk listing for anything over 200.
