How Custom Poker Chips Are Made: UV Printing vs. Cheap Stickered Chips
If you’ve shopped for custom poker chips before, you’ve probably seen two very different products at two very different price points, and the difference comes down to how the design actually gets onto the chip.
The cheap version: stickers
A lot of “custom” chips on the market are a standard blank chip with a printed sticker applied on top. It looks fine in photos, but stickers peel, bubble, and scratch off with regular shuffling — especially at the edges, which take the most contact during play.
The real version: UV printing on clay composite
We print directly onto a genuine 11.5g clay composite chip with a metal insert using a UV printer, which cures the ink onto the surface rather than laying a layer on top of it. That’s what gives the chip real casino-style weight (the metal insert) and print durability that survives actual card games, not just a shelf display.
What that means for double-sided designs
Because the printing is direct, we include double-sided printing on every order — text on one side, an image or logo on the other — without the registration and peeling issues that come with applying two stickers to a small round surface.
